Pavillon Halifax Commons Pool_LU_#13

The Halifax Common Aquatics Facility was designed by MJMA Architecture & Design in collaboration with the local firms of Abbott-Brown Architects and Brackish Design Studio as part of the first phase of the greater Halifax Commons Master Plan and completed in 2023. The Halifax Common is the oldest urban park in Canada and offers green space, recreation and cultural activities amidst a growing urban center. Located between Cogswell Street and Bell Road in the Commons, the new aquatics facility stemmed from outdated and inaccessible facilities such as the pavilion, splashpad and pool. This was replaced with a 13,500 square foot outdoor pool with a capacity of over 300 people. The pool has a 25 meter five lane pool that offers recreational activities such as lane swimming, lessons and open swim times. The program also includes a pavilion with a multipurpose room and kitchenette, a splash pad, a community plaza, gathering spaces, a lounge deck, tiered seating, a shaded tree grove, a drop off square, seating gardens, universal changerooms and washrooms.
