Place des Arts (PdA), the first multidisciplinary art centre of its sort in Northern Ontario, is a focus of excellence for Sudbury and its francophone populations. PdA currently has seven member organisations. Finding new methods of interactivity and connectivity was the aim of this community-based project, which was coordinated by Moriyama & Teshima Architects (MTA) and Bélanger Salach Architecture (BSA), in order enable each of the organisations to continue working together and flourishing in this new facility. In order to ensure that each of the seven member organisations is adequately represented in their respective programmes and activities as they merge into this new collaborative space, the PdA also aligns with the Sudbury Downtown Revitalization Master Plan. As a result, close consultation with each of the seven member organisations was necessary. By Hailee Thompson
