Shipyards Waterfront

"The Shipyards Waterfront in North Vancouver is one place that immediately comes to mind for me. It is this long waterfront space that I have experienced in different ways, both during the summer when it was full of activity for a public market and at other times when it was completely empty. What stands out to me is how much it allows for community-based things to happen. It supports large events, but it also works just as well for everyday use, which gives it a real sense of flexibility. There are a lot of thoughtful elements throughout the space, and it has these small pockets where people can gather, pause, and spend time. What I appreciate most is that it does not feel over-designed. It feels open and adaptable, and that makes it a strong example to me of a high-quality public place." (Adapted from interview material.
