"I experience 9A Street NW as a place that is really interesting because it challenges what you would expect. It runs right along the train tracks, which is normally something people would see as negative or undesirable. But at the same time, it has one of the best views, looking at downtown across the river. So you have this combination of something that is traditionally seen as bad with something that is considered really good, and it actually works. The buildings along there are quite nice, and the setting changes how you experience that edge condition. It makes you rethink what makes a place valuable. For me, it is that contrast that stands out. It shows that context matters, and that something that might not seem desirable at first can become something really compelling depending on how it is situated." (Adapted from interview material.
